Pool LIfeguard Training

Entry Requirements

These units of competency from the SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package make up the Pool Lifeguard skill set – SISSS00133. Upon successful completion, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment certificate.

This is a physical course. A student must be fit and strong enough to:

  1. Swim 25 metres to a casualty, tow them 25 metres and remove them from the water with assistance from other students.
  2. The student must also be able to kneel for the CPR component of the course.

 

 

*Note: Please wear swimwear, including use of sun screen and sun protection gear. If you have any medical injuries that may prevent you from performing CPR on the floor, please advise us at the booking enquiry stage.

Course Units

Assessment

This course is assessed through an online theory pass mark, Online work must be completed prior to your training day. 

Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral, swimming and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios in the practical training class. It will be expected that your online theory has been completed prior to your practical class. 

Certificates are issued – usually, providing the online theory and practical assessments have both been marked as competent. Certificates are emailed to the email address provided during enrolment.

*Note: it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor. Please advise us prior to the course if you are unable to kneel on the floor.

Accreditation

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for the following unit of competence:

HTLAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

100 percent profession training on the Central Coast, Erina

Requirements for Completion

Participants are required to attend 100% of the practical course, and must complete online pre-course work.

Location

Onsite with access to a pool. This can be discussed further when you enquire.

Validity

1 Year

A full course must be completed if a Pool Lifeguard qualification has expired after a period greater than 4 weeks.

A refresher course must be completed if a Pool Lifeguard qualification has expired by a period of less than 4 weeks and the person has been working consistently in the industry. Evidence must be supplied to support this employment.

The course is nationally recognised.

Duration

This course is run over a period of 3 days and includes HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, and some elements must be conducted in a pool.
